Why Riders Keep Coming Back to the Challenger

Every year I get asked the same question:
"What makes the Challenger different?"
It's a fair question. The Mid-Atlantic region has no shortage of mountain bike races. Racers can choose from events in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and beyond. So why do hundreds of riders return to Camden County College every June?
The answer isn't Molly's Loop.
It isn't The Crazy 88.
It isn't the fast singletrack, the punchy climbs, or even the finish line.
The answer is the people!
But there is one thing that truly sets the Challenger apart. The Challenger is the only mountain bike race in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey market that offers a dedicated E-Bike race class.
While many events have chosen not to embrace E-Bike racing, we've continued to support and grow the category. Our E-Bike race launches after the traditional bike categories have finished, giving E-Bike riders the course entirely to themselves.
No congestion.
No mixing with traditional race categories.
Just you, your bike, and the challenge ahead.
A Race Where Everyone Belongs
The Challenger has always been built around a simple idea:
Mountain bike racing should be challenging enough for the fastest racers, but welcoming enough for someone pinning on a number plate for the very first time. On race day, you'll see elite racers warming up next to first-timers. You'll see juniors. You'll see veterans. You'll see riders in their teens, to riders in their seventies, and every age in between. Everyone is there for the same reason... to 'Challenge' themselves.
More Than Just a Race

One of my favorite parts of race day happens long before the start whistle. It happens in the parking lot. Friends who haven't seen each other since last season reconnect. Teams gather under tents. People walk around checking out bikes. Stories get exchanged. Advice gets shared. The mountain bike community is unlike anything else in sports. The Challenger has become one of those places where that community comes together.
The Course Doesn't Ride Itself
Sure, we work hard on the course. This year's race features:

• Molly's Loop
• The Crazy 88 (8 fun and punchy climbs followed by 8 descents)
• Multiple ultra-wide passing zones
• Fast, flowing singletrack
• A finish on the track for exciting sprint finishes
• A dedicated E-Bike race with the course reserved exclusively for E-Bikes
Whether you're riding a traditional mountain bike or an E-Bike, you'll find a welcoming community and a challenging course designed to put a smile on your face. But trails are just dirt in the woods. It's the riders who create the experience.
The Finish Line
Most racers won't stand on the podium. That's reality. But nearly everyone crosses the finish line smiling. Why?
Because they did something difficult.
Because they tested themselves.
Because they spent a day outside with people who share the same passion.
Because they became part of something bigger than a race result.
June 27 Is Coming Fast

Whether you're a seasoned racer chasing a podium, an endurance rider looking for a challenge, an E-Bike racer, or someone considering their very first mountain bike race, we'd love to see you on the start line. A dedicated E-Bike race class with the course reserved exclusively for E-Bikes.
